Practice Management Alternatives announces Compliance Hotline
Practice Management Alternatives, a national regulatory compliance, audit and fraud investigation firm announced today that it will offer monitoring and supervision of employee hotlines and e-mail boxes for healthcare entities.

/Fraud - Identity Theft News Articles/ - BELLEVUE, WA, June 16, 2008 - Practice Management Alternatives, a national regulatory compliance, audit and fraud investigation firm announced today that it will offer monitoring and supervision of employee hotlines and e-mail boxes for healthcare entities.

"There are many competent organizations that provide and monitor employee hotlines," says Dr. Donald Jones, CFE, CHC, PMA's VP of Audit and Regulatory Services. "What our company offers that sets it apart in the industry is in addition to the usual monitoring and reporting, PMA provides web-based training, a CD copy of the training to be used by organizations for retraining or at orientation, and individual consultation on every contact, all by compliance and investigative professionals. It's all in the single price."

Healthcare compliance is a relatively new industry, born out of the government's crackdown on Medicare and Medicaid fraud. A key component of an effective compliance plan, says the US Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General, is open lines of communication for employees to report suspected fraud or abuse in their own organizations. A toll-free hotline that allows anonymous reporting is one example given by the OIG as an open line of communication.

"We think the importance of these employee hotline reports demand that the companies who monitor them both do so with certified professionals, and also provide recommendations for what the entity does next," added Dr. Jones. "The United States government constantly updates the laws and regulations surrounding federal health care programs to ensure proper conduct by providers and eliminate fraud. Only professionals who both understand the new regulations and know how to implement programs can help healthcare entities ensure compliance."
